16 days out!

Today I’m 16 days out from my very first show and 23 for my second show. I still have a lot of energy and still strong in the gym. Suddenly I got a lot of energy to get things done! I’m almost ready! This weekend I’ll be packing my bag… can you tell I’m excited? 😀
Still NO cardio. 
NO fatburners
NO supplements other than multivitamins and fish oils
No under eating 
Carbs are still on the plan: potatoes, rice, bread, oats. 
People talk about figure competitors being unhealthy due to all of the stuff they need to do in order to lean out but this goes to show you that achieving low body fat doesn’t require mad science. It’s all about starting your prep early enough and letting the diet take care of the fat loss. If you diet smartly, you don’t need to do crazy hours of cardio. That’s proven. Cardio won’t give you the definition you’re looking for, it won’t lean out your trouble areas, it won’t get rid of your cellulite….but your DIET will! I’m fortunate enough to have found the right nutrition Coach to guide me into a healthy prep. My metabolism still on fire and the best part is that I won’t be suffering from post contest rebound. Who wants that anyway?   
Okay, enough of bragging how good I have it lol! 
I took this progress photo last night for the coach so here is a sneak peak of the package I’ll be bringing to the stage. Not bad for a 40 year old FIRST time competitor right?

    It frustrates me to no end when people talk about how insanely unhealthy competitors are… I eat healthier, better and MORE than more people I know and I do leess cardio. I’m rarely sick, have tons of energy…. these are bad things!? huh?!

    You’re inspirational and really a great motivation for my own last home stretch 16 days to go and I am going to KILL IT!

    You’re absolutely right about eating better and healthier. I cant say I am on my IDEAL nutrition plan, but for a first time figure competitor I am happy with where my body has come.

    Can’t wait for competition number 2 :) do things differently.

    karatenurse - You look awesome! I loved my diet on comp prep, I can’t say I had the no cardio plan though, my body fat was way too high going into it. Lesson learned. Next Spring will be even better!

    Amanda - oh ana you look fantastic (and you just answered my question of your age hehehe). you are an inspiration to us oldies reading your blog! lats are awesome – what exercises are you doing for those – i dont know of many. i guess this is where the fun starts – tan, nails, jewellery – all the girlie stuff? do you have to amp your training up for the next fortnight? you are amazing and look half your age – you should be proud and happy no matter what the comp outcome but we know you’re going to blitz it in!!!! loving the photos!!ReplyCancel

    Ana C. - @ ihearteggs – Thanks so much girl! I agree that it’s sad to hear how everyone bashes competitions and make it sound like it’s a horrible thing to do but that’s just because they’re doing it wrong! I’m just like you! I still have tons of energy and haven’t been sick in over 5 years!

    @ Amanda – Thanks a bunch! Yes, I’m not a young chickie but do FEEL very young haha! I feel better than when I was in my twenties! As far as for my lats, I do lots wide grip pull downs, HEAVY dumbbell rows, well, all kinds of back exercises… I think the key is to do them with strict form and a strong mind to muscle connection. I agree that no matter what the outcome is we’re all winners! Thanks again!
