Testing my new food freedom!

I must admit that I feel strange having freedom to eat whatever I want this week. I was advised to take a full diet break after the show and that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 3 days. Sunday & Monday were days of gluttony!!!… I won’t even tell you what I ate since I’m embarrassed to tell you about it. I ate on impulse and not because I was hungry. By the end of the night I was sick of eating!
Having said that, I’m happy that my weight has stabilized at around 124 lbs. Only 4 pounds over my stage weight (which was very low btw) but that’s where I needed to be in order to be tight and lean. Next time I compete, I would love to be about 5 lbs heavier. My goal is to add that much muscle in about a year. I think it’s doable with the right nutrition plan & weight lifting routine.
Yesterday I was much better at controlling what I ate.
It started with a cup of joe plus a bowl of Voskos non fat plain greek yogurt (sweetened with stevia & cinnamon) topped with chia seeds, vanilla granola, 2 chocolate chip chippers from Paradise Bakery and a tablespoon of Dark Chocolate Dreams from Peanut Butter and Co.
Can you see why this tastes like heaven??

By the way, I have a small tattoo on my lower back (left side) with this symbol. I got it when I was going thru a rough period in my life and what I needed at that moment was courage… but don’t we need that all the time in whatever we do?

Lunch was a bagel sandwich with lean/low sodium ham, a slice of pepper jack, tomato & lettuce plus a juicy peach.

Later I had a handful of peanuts
And dinner was home made grilled shrimp fajitas (sorry no photos!) with salsa fresca, guacamole & spanish rice. Dessert was frozen yogurt!
Can you see why I’m enjoying my new freedom? No tracking, no counting calories, not worrying about the nutritional content (although I’m trying to keep most of what I eat healthy) so it feels good to take a break. If you’ve been dieting for a while, it’s important to give yourself a break then get back on the wagon after a few days. Your body and your brain will thank you.  I’ll be back on it on Sunday…. but for now… CHEERS! to this week’s freedom 😀
