What I ate

I get asked “what I eat on a typical day” at least once a week by different people so I decided to make a post on the five meals I usually have. I like to vary them but some of them are my staple meals (like my breakfast) or a salad & chicken for my lunch and usually my post-workout carbs are something different since it’s when I get to eat something not so ‘clean’ (whatever that means LOL).

I’m also posting the calories for each meal so that you get an idea of how much you can eat and still lose weight. I have 4 to 5 pounds I would love to lose before the wedding and I know I can do it if stick to my plan. I’m currently 132 lbs:-)

Meal 1 – 4 egg whites + 1 whole egg + half a slice of turkey bacon + 2 whole wheat tortillas + coffee

Meal 2 – Salad + 150g of baked tilapia
Note: I usually don’t count most of my veggies unless I know they’re heavy in calories

Meal 3 – Rice cake + 1 16g of peanut butter + 1 medium apple

Meal 4 – 130g chicken breast + Asparagus + 150g of baked sweet potato

Meal 5 – 1 scoop of whey + 2 diet soda cupcakes

These diet soda cupcakes are the easiest thing to make! Just add a diet soda to any cake mix and bake according to the directions on the box. I made 24 of them and they’re 85 calories each! They’re great for those of us that have a sweet tooth and need to have something to satisfy the cravings. You should try them!

See, being on a diet it’s not that hard. You just need to choose healthy foods (for the most part) that will keep you satisfied and will nourish your body while getting leaner. If you go too low in calories all you’ll do is make your body go into starvation mode and that is no good. Oh, and don’t be afraid to get creative with your meals while keeping the calories low. You don’t want to get bored too fast:-)

    BamaBelle - Great post! I love seeing what others eat, because I seem to get in a rut & forget about certain foods. When I saw the meal with asparagus, I actually said outloud, “Oooo asparagus! I forgot about asparagus!” lol

    Very cool how you did the calorie/carb/fat/protein breakdown for each meal!

    Ana C. - Hey Bamma! I love Asparagus! I eat them as much as I can when they’re on sale. I just bake them with a little olive oil, salt & pepper for about 20 minutes and that’s it! Yum!

    I use Livestrong.com to track my calories and the macronutrients breakdown from these foods are just a screen shot of my page on livestrong. I’ve been using it for about 3 years! I don’t count calories all the time but I do when I have a goal in mind.
