When it comes to hamburgers, the hubby (Paul) and I consider ourselves to be burger
snobs lovers just as much as Wimpy does. It was a logical choice that the first “Destination Scottsdale” post for my blog would be a burger place!
We chose the new kid in town Hopdoddy Burger Bar (opened on October 30th, 2013).
My nephew took me there a few weeks ago and I knew I had to bring Paul back to taste these amazing burgers! As we approached the front door we were welcomed right away by a friendly hostess. We were asked if we’ve been there before (I said yes, Paul said no) and proceeded to explain to us how the process works; look at their menu, make your hamburger choice, walk to the counter and place your order. A server will bring your food to the table. If you need buy additional food you request that from your server. No need to go back to the counter for that.
We ordered The Goodnight Burger (me) and the The Classic Cheese Burger (Paul). I really enjoyed all of the different blends of flavor on mine. The raw sliced jalapeños complimented the sweetness of the caramelized onions perfectly and the meat is very flavorful and juicy! Enough said…I’m ordering this one again! However, the Llano Poblano burger is also calling my name 😉 What a dilemma!
When Paul goes to a burger place for the first time he always orders just the burger plain. He says that way he can taste the true quality of the beef and know the “foundation” each burger starts from. Paul noted that these burgers have a very flavorful seasoning that most likely was blended into the beef vs. just sprinkled on top.
Of course you can’t have a burger without fries – well at least I can’t. These fries were excellent. Crispy and full of flavor. We shared a large order which was plenty for two people. They also have truffle fries with aioli but we stuck with the basics.
There’s a cool drinking station that features many different soda flavors & fresh brewed tea….flavors that you normally don’t see anywhere else. I chose the Mexican Cola flavor. No regrets thereAfter our burgers we decided to go for an Oreo Milkshake (we shared one since we were still stuffed from the burgers and fries!). I really liked that it wasn’t overly sweet and the oreos chunks gave it a great texture to the mix. Next time we go I’ll be ordering their Nutella & Chocolate Pretzel shake for sure 😀 And get a look at those straws with the shake! Every place that serves shakes should have these straws. They are extra wide to make sipping a thick shake so easy. Genius!
I love their philosophy of supporting local farmers, recycling and making everything in house. Fresh and modern comes to mind when thinking of the interior of this place. I loved all of the details from the fresh fruit to the classic photographs hung on the top walls. Overall, I rate this as one of the best hamburgers I have ever had! You can add me to their fan list
If you live in Scottsdale or the Phoenix Metro area, you must try these burgers! If you plan on visiting, this place is definitely on the “must-do” list.Hopdoddy Burger Bar 11055 N. Scottsdale Rd. Oh their logo is so stinkin’ adorable! Don’t you think?
On another note, is anybody into cars? Barrett Jackson started today! I drive by the 101 everyday and the minute I start seeing the white tents pop up I know it’s the time for car shows in Scottsdale! We LOVE cars so Paul & I plan on going to Barrett Jackson next Saturday to take a look!
