On my last “Experience Scottsdale” post I talked about our wonderful bike ride thru one of the best bike paths in Scottsdale and how we ended up at a fantastic restaurant to have lunch. Well, this is part 2 of that post and I’m finally going to share what we did for your eyes!
Our lunch destination was Olive and Ivy. This restaurant is located at the Scottsdale Waterfront where you can find many restaurants within walking distance. The choices are unlimited! You can find all types of cuisines: Mexican, Spanish, new American, Asian, Mediterranean, and more!
Olive & Ivy is a truly magnificent place to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner! You have lots to choose from and won’t be dissapointed. There are two main areas where you can eat; the Marketplace and the main Dinning area.
At the Marketplace you can grab something quick to eat like muffins, croissants, fresh fruit ($3), a breakfast burrito ($7), omelets ($6) sandwiches, salads ($7), flatbreads ($13) and many other things. They also have “on the go” drinks from their display area as you see in the above photo. If you eat at the Marketplace you can sit outside or inside in this cool tucked-away area:
The main dinning area is very open, colorful and filled with lots of details……It’s a feast for your eyes! It’s surrounded by large windows that give beautiful natural light and make you feel like you’re in the patio area.
We arrived at Olive & Ivy around noon on a Saturday and the place was busy! We had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated which wasn’t bad. If you don’t want to wait you can eat at the bar (if there are spots open of course). The bar is a very lively area!
We started out with a pitcher of Red Sangria ($20) which we truly enjoyed. The bread and pesto you receive while you wait for you meal are delicious….one of the best pestos I have ever had and could not get enough of it! But I knew I had to limit myself as I was really looking forward to the rest of the meal.
Our waiter, Marc Anthony (M.A.), was excellent. We followed all his recommendations and weren’t disappointed. He suggested the Mediterranean Salad ($10, $14 with chicken) and the Mediterranean Flat Bread ($13). The table next to us was eating the Mediterranean Flat Bread and it looked amazing! So we decided to stick to an all Mediterranean meal. However, we added spicy sausage to the Flat bread and this was a smart choice as it gave an extra little kick!
We also told M.A. that we were sharing the salad and he had them split it into two different bowls. I thought that was a nice touch. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the dressing wasn’t overpowering as some vinaigrettes tend to be. So good!
By this time we had developed a good rapport with M.A. and were having a great time. He was quite a hoot (not enough room here to tell you his Segway story – too funny!). For dessert M.A.’s recommendation for Paul was the Peanut Butter Pudding ($5) and for me a Coconut Cupcake ($2.5). After all, M.A. said he had a Coconut Cupcake hidden away for him to take home after work. I added a humongous Cinnamon Roll Latte ($4) on my own 😉 Dessert did not disappoint making the entire experience a full circle success.
I absolutely loved this place! The ambience inside is fun, classy, and unique with wonderful friendly service. This is one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. We can’t wait to go back and explore the rest of the menu.Olive & Ivy Scottsdale Waterfront 7135 E. Camelback Rd. #195
