Jade Bar Mixology (at Sanctuary Camelback Resort) 5700 East McDonald Drive
Scottsdale, AZ 85253
A few weeks ago the kind folks over at Sanctuary Camelback Resort, invited me to attend one of their Mixology classes at Jade Bar. A mixology class? How could I turn that down? “Of course” I said! Even though I’m not a big drinker, I’ve been wanting to learn to mix a drink like a pro and this was a great opportunity. Everybody that likes to entertain must know how to mix at least one good drink and impress their guests right?
The weather was perfect so the class was held outdoors. When it gets hotter (like now!) the Mixology classes are held at the indoor bar where it’s nice and cool. Classes are being held on Saturdays during the month of July. Private classes are also available.
Our mixologist is a master in the craft cocktail tradition, using all fresh and quality ingredients. In the class, we learned the cocktail’s ingredients, tasting, balance, techniques, and so much more. Not only did we taste three different cocktails demonstrating the course material, but we all went home with our very own recipe cards and a mixing tool.
I thoroughly enjoyed the class and definitely recommend it for anyone interested in mixology and the craft cocktail movement.
The lounge at Sanctuary Camelback was recently remodeled and Jade Bar has one of the prettiest views in the Valley. It overlooks Camelback Mountain and the sunset view is breathtaking! The group took a tour of their remodeled areas and it was the perfect opportunity for me to snap some photos of the stunning surroundings.
After our mini tour, we were invited to meet Chef Beau Macmillan and taste some of the dishes from the Bar snack menu. I was trying my hardest not to appear “star struck” when I met Chef Beau Macmillan and I think I did pretty good….I hope :). Not only is he the amazing and talented Executive Chef at Sanctuary, but he’s a Food Network celebrity chef and Iron Chef America winner!
On July 26th I’ll be attending one of Sanctuary’s Lunch & Learn series with Chef Beau and Food Critic Troy Johnson. To say that I’m excited to learn some culinary secrets is an understatement!
Overall, we had a great time at Jade Bar. Though I haven’t visited that many bars in Valley of the Sun, I can easily say that this is by far my favorite bar in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. The food is delicious and the drinks are fantastic! The entire experience, especially enjoying the amazing view, is like no other.
